Skipper Rabiu Ali grabbed the match winner to halt a three-match losing run by champions Pillars against visiting Kwara United 1-0 in Kano in a Nigeria league game on Wednesday.
Pillars now have 40 points from 27 games.
Ali scored the only goal of the game in the seventh minute.
His long-range effort in the 38th minute went off target. In the 48th minute, Kwara United’s Abdulahi Ibrahim saw his shot saved by goalkeeper Theophilus Afelokhai.
In the 53rd minute, Ibrahim was again denied by Afelokhai.
In another league match, Henry Ochuba was the hero as Abia Warriors pipped Nasarawa United 1-0.
Abia now have 43 points from 27 games, while Nasarawa have 38 points.
