LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska National Guard held a ceremony to welcome its new Land Component Commander, Brig. Gen. John A. P. McGowan, during a change of command ceremony at the Nebraska National Guard Joint Force Headquarters on October 1, 2023. Brig. Gen. McGowan succeeds Brig. Gen. Scott A. D. During the ceremony, Maj. Gen. Daryl L. Bohac, the Adjutant General of the Nebraska National Guard, praised Brig. Gen. He highlighted McNair’s contributions to the organization and the impact he has had on the lives of service members and their families.
Brig. Gen. McGowan, who previously served as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations and Plans for the Nebraska National Guard, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Land Component and emphasized his commitment to the mission and the soldiers of the Nebraska National Guard.
“I am honored to take on this role and to serve alongside such dedicated individuals,” said McGowan. “Together, we will continue to build on the strong foundation established by my predecessor and ensure we are ready to serve our state and nation.”
The ceremony was attended by family, friends, and fellow service members, who gathered to show their support for both commanders as they transition to new roles within the Nebraska National Guard.
