Nigerian government has secured the release of another Nigerian, Ibrahim Abubakar, arrested over alleged drug trafficking.

Saudi arabia releases wrongfully arrested nigerian for drug trafficking

The Media aide to President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, took to twitter, Thursday to share the news.

“Saudi Authorities release Mallam Ibrahim Abubakar to the Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah, KSA. He was arrested over alleged drug trafficking, the same offence as Zainab Habib Aliyu, who was also released recently,” he tweeted.

This is the same Nigerian that the permanent secretary of the ministry of foreign affairs, Suleiman Mustapha, had earlier announced that Abubakar would be released, after Zainab Aliyu.

This comes after the release of Yusuf Maitama Sule University student, Zainab Aliyu who was detained by the Saudi authorities for alleged possession of illicit drugs.

You can read the details on how Saudi Arabia freed Zainab Aliyu. Many Nigerians commended the Nigerian government and President Buhari on the swift action taken to ensure her release, except CAN who question the government. They asked “Are some Nigerians more important than others?” This is linked to the delay in the rescue of Leah Sharibu who is still yet to be released as she is still being held by the Boko Haram terrorists
