Reports say Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, is allegedly planning to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Accord party ahead of the November governorship election in the state.
Accord Party was Yahaya Bello’s alternative party in 2015 when he lost the APC governorship primary to late Prince Abubakar Audu. He was eventually nominated to take the place of Audu in the supplementary election.
Reports say Yahaya Bello had informed some of his close allies, that some aides of President Buhari has advised him to seek the governorship ticket from another party since the leadership of the party in the state are unwilling to hand him a second term ticket.
Over 10 petitions submitted by individuals, various groups and also within the party demanding that the party should not give Bello a ticket for a second term, have been reviewed by the national secretariat of the APC.
