Massive fires lighting up the skyline of Tehran after airstrikes struck oil storage and fuel facilities around the capital late Saturday night.
According to multiple reports, the attacks targeted fuel depots and energy infrastructure in and around Tehran, triggering enormous explosions and towering columns of flame that could be seen across several districts of the city. Witness footage shows thick black smoke billowing into the night sky while large fires burned near oil storage tanks and industrial sites.
Authorities said several oil depots were hit during the strikes, sparking blazes that emergency crews rushed to contain. Video from the scene shows firefighters attempting to establish a perimeter while flames spread through damaged fuel storage areas.
The infernos illuminated much of the capital overnight, with some footage capturing flames stretching along nearby streets where leaking petroleum and burning debris intensified the firestorm. The attacks mark a major escalation in the ongoing conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, which has seen strikes and counter-strikes across the region in recent days.
Officials from Iran’s oil authorities confirmed that energy infrastructure in the provinces of Tehran and Alborz came under attack, though firefighting teams were deployed quickly to try to prevent the flames from spreading to additional fuel reserves and pipelines.
Residents described the scenes as “apocalyptic,” with multiple fires burning simultaneously and the glow from the infernos visible across large parts of the city of nearly 10 million people.
The strikes come amid a rapidly escalating regional confrontation. Iranian forces have reportedly launched retaliatory missile attacks against Israeli targets, including a refinery in Haifa, raising fears of a widening conflict focused on energy infrastructure across the Middle East.
Emergency crews continue working to control the fires as authorities assess the extent of damage to the facilities and surrounding areas.
