A building that was in the process of being constructed in Lagos has collapsed, trapping an unknown number of people in the debris.
On Wednesday afternoon, the building located in Banana Island in Ikoyi collapsed, trapping site workers, visitors and food vendors in the debris.
Ibrahim Falinloye, a spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the collapse and stated that it had occurred on First Avenue, Banana Island, Ikoyi. He further reported that NEMA and other emergency responders were actively engaged in a rescue operation, but he was unable to provide an estimate of the number of individuals who were currently trapped.
