Nigerians on Twitter, Facebook and Social Media in general are rejoicing after it was reported that they redeployed controversial police officer, Abayomi Shogunle.

Shogunle is a police officer, and he’s popular on social media largely due to his ‘loose’ talks on controversial topics. Little wonder news of his redeployment to a far-flung area sparked celebration on social media.

Police transfers Abayomi Shogunle

Frank Mba, Police spokesperson, confirmed that Shogunle had been redeployed to a town in Ebonyi state, saying: “Yes he has been removed and redeployed to Ebonyi State as Area Commander of Nkalagu.”

Until now, Shogunle was the Head of the Complaint Response Unit of the Police.

See some hilarious social media reactions below:

.@YomiShogunle isn’t perfect, had reasons to disagree with a number of his positions, but he pioneered a police complaints Centre that did more good than bad.
Wishing him, every @PoliceNG officer he will lead and the community they now serve the very best and God’s protection. pic.twitter.com/RsoM9UzJ33

We the P: of TwitterNG are proud to trend the good P: of Nkalagu, who will shortly be welcoming P:Yomi Shogunle to the good P: of Ebonyi, traveling over the Niger Bridge like all ordinary P:s, and that many P:s called Amaka welcome him warmly.

If these reports are true, Shipping Yomi Shogunle off to Nkalagu solves nothing. Another Yomi will rise up. The system breeds and enables Yomi Shogunles.

Best to fire him.

Just thought I should provide you guys the best photos from Nkalagu, the new frontier of the police war against cement and block industry.

The redeployment of @YomiShogunle by the leadership of the @PoliceNG once again shows that this current IGP listens to public criticism. This is extremely commendable. Like I once told Yomi, as a public official, you must stop seeing criticism as insults.

Spurs is like one Yomi Shogunle who for 90mins blocked all the shots fired at him by the P. of twitter..

Just when he thought he has won it…90+1min he is beaten by a well taken header by the P. of Nathan Ake @segalink to relegate him from his Top 4 Abuja to Nkalagu..#BOUTOT pic.twitter.com/h9mc0Z8hUL

Dear Yomi Shogunle. I heard you have been deployed to Nkalagu.
Brother do not be angered. I can assure you that Nkalagu is a home you’ll love to live in. It is accommodating with little or no traffic unlike Lagos.
You can also get all the luxury lifestyle in Enugu just be civil.

Ebonyi welcomes @YomiShogunle to Nkalagu. Please note:
1. Nobody will call you “Buoda Yomi” here.
2. You will not be in the state capital.
3. You will be busy with serious issues and should not have time to mis-yarn on Twitter.
4. Small boys will call you “Punish”, not Police.?
