Manchester United striker, Alexis Sanchez, in his reaction to his side’s Champions League quarter-final second leg defeat to Barcelona on Tuesday at Camp Nou, has said Messi is Messi
Two goals from Lionel Messi and a strike from Philippe Coutinho ensured Ernesto Valverde’s men dumped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men out of the Champions League.
Sanchez returned from a knee injury he sustained six weeks ago and came on for Jesse Lingard in the 80th minute during Man United’s defeat to Barcelona.
The Chilean international, a former teammate with the star player during his time at Barcelona, hailed the Argentine international by saying that the Barca number 10 always maintains ‘high level of performance’.
“They [Barcelona] played very well,” Sanchez was quoted by Metro UK as saying.
“We had very clear chances, but this is football, this is the Champions League.
“If you get something wrong or fail, then the other team gets on top of you. That’s what Barcelona do.
“The truth is that the first goal was a very nice goal. Leo is Leo, we all know what we can do.
“It’s the same as always. Leo, he is very happy at Barca. He maintains this high level of performance and the team is also playing well. Messi is Messi”
