The Dreamville fest finally took place on Saturday night after the September event from last year got postponed due to Hurricane Florence. It was live streamed for TIDAL subscribers across the world.
J. Cole was the headliner of course and he made sure to pay his respects to the late Nipsey Hussle whose death has impacted the world of music in a big way, especially the Hip-Hop community. “I gotta take time on stage and acknowledge someone who had a huge impact on the community, on the f*ckin world.”
From there on, he asked the 40,000-strong crowd to put their cellphone lights in the sky in dedication to the rapper. He reminded fans that we are still lucky to be alive where some of our friends and family don’t have that opportunity. Cole then proceeded to perform his heartfelt song ‘Love Yourz’.
