Femi Kuti, Son of Music legend, Fela has reacted to a statement by Nigeria police over the death of Kolade Johnson.

Kolade was alleged to have been shot by a member of a police team, while he was watching a Premier League fixture between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in Lagos on Sunday.

Johnson’s death has since sparked widespread criticism, with a renewed call on the Federal Government to end the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS) unit of the police.

Speaking on the development, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bala Elkana, in a statement said suspects have been arrested and an investigation begun into the matter.

But Kuti reacting to statement by Police on his Twitter page called on the force to serve immediate justice to the suspects responsible for Kolade’s death.

He wrote: “Justice must be swift and must serve as an immediate deterrent to senseless police brutality and extrajudicial killings.

“I’m over 50, but I think we should all raise over voices against injustice or it will swallow us all eventually. A peaceful protest organized very well count me in.”
