A suit seeking to oust Rilwan Akiolu from his position of Oba of Lagos has been dismissed by an Ikeja High Court.

Court dismisses suit against the rival of Oba of Lagos

According to Justice A. Candide-Johnson, the claimants, Prince Adedoyin Adebiyi and Prince Rasheed Modile, two members of the Lagos royal family, failed to prove their case.

Both princes are challenging Oba Rilwan Akiolu as the rightful monarch and are both from the Akinsemoyin ruling house.

According to them, they were chosen by the family to contest the title, after the demise of the late Oba of Lagos, Oba Adeyinka Oyekan, the 2nd.bThey stated that Oba Akiolu has no rightful claim to the throne.

Oba Akiolu however says he was righfully chosen by the kingmakers, which was why he was coronated on May 23, 2003.
