Enugu Decides: Ayogu Eze cannot determine for APC - Party Chieftain, Ude

The pioneer Deputy Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Enugu State, Comrade Adolphus Ude has faulted Senator Ayogu Eze for kicking against his representation of the party as its agent during the collation of gubernatorial results in the State.

DAILY POST reports that Ude was the APC agent during the result collation at the Enugu INEC office. However, Senator Eze kicked against it, noting that Ude was not there for him.

But in a statement made available to DAILY POST, Ude also said Senator Eze erred when he claimed to have boycotted the election.

According to him “in the point of law, Ayogu Eze does not have the power or right whatsoever to boycott an election as a candidate. It is only the party that sponsored the candidate that is empowered by law to do that. If the APC was boycotting the election, the directive would have come from the NWC of the party and not a candidate. He is not the one sponsoring the party, it is the other way round.

“In addition, myself, Comrade AC Ude, who signed the result sheet as a party agent did that as a foundation member of APC, member of Enugu State caucus of APC and as a pioneer deputy state chairman of APC Enugu state. I did not do that as a factional deputy state chairman.”

He added that “It will interest you to note that Ayogu’s membership and admittance into APC is still under litigation, so he does not in anyway stand before the law to dictate for the party, as an ordinary party faithful (if later proven by court that he is a member).

“So, I have the locu standi to serve and sign as a party agent when Dr. Ben Nwoye (the foundation state chairman) is not available.”

Ude equally knocked Ayogu for allegedly failing to campaign in any part of the State, stressing that “even before the High Court judgement, which favoured Barr. George Ogara, he never campaigned anywhere. The only person who went round the 17 local government areas in the State campaigning vigorously for President Muhammadu Buhari and indeed the party, is the Honourable minister of foreign affairs, Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama.

“Ayogu Eze only returned to Enugu on Thursday when the campaign period has elapsed. So, I wonder the magic he wanted to do. I must make it clear here that the over 10,000 votes the party got in the governorship election was through the efforts of the minister.”
