ICPC arraigns Christian pilgrims board boss for stealing lailasnews

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arraigned Christian pilgrims board boss, Dr. Jinga Mayo, for stealing.

Dr. Jinga Mayo, the executive secretary of Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, before Justice Nathan Musa of High Court 1 Yola for allegedly embezzling N69.2 million.

According to the commission’s spokesperson, Rasheedat Okoduwa, Mayo was charged for knowingly furnishing false return of N69.2 million meant for the payment of members of the Adamawa State Christian Pilgrims Board for 2016 pilgrims operation in Israel.

He allegedly did not pay them but returned seemingly duly signed payment vouchers and acknowledgement receipts of the payment by each member of the said committee.

The spokesperson added that the accused was also charged for conferring corrupt advantage upon himself. The matter was adjourned till March 5 and 6 2019 for commencement of trial.
