The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Kaduna State chapter has described the recent arrest of its former state chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Yaro Manama as an act of fulfilling the earlier plan of governor Nasir El-Rufai to arrest about 150 prominent members of PDP in the state out of fear of imminent defeat in the coming general elections.
The state PDP gubernatorial campaign organisation in a statement signed by its Deputy Director General, Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki, made available on Monday evening said, “It is so obvious that the El-Rufai led government is jittery and terribly scared of the eminent defeat it is about to face come February 16th and March 2nd, 2019.
“However, we wish to reiterate that, no amount of arrest, intimidation, harassment or trump up charges can deter our resolve to rescue, reunite and reconstruct Kaduna State.”
PDP said that the arrest was in confirmation of its earlier statement that the Nasir El-Rufai/APC led government in Kaduna State is in a panic mode and have penned down names of 150 opposition figures in the state to be arrested in the last week of the election.
“We wish to inform the general public that Alh. Ibrahim Yaro Makama, a former Chairman of our party in Kaduna State have been arrested today by the police.
“Makama honoured an invitation by the commissioner of police, Kaduna State, only to be whisked away to Abuja,” it explained.
PDP recalled that, Makama’s name is prominent among the list of those to be clamped down by the ruling government.
“We wish to once more call on all our members and supporters not to despair but remain resolute and confident for the dark days shall soon be over,” it said.
