Some football stakeholders in Ekiti State have approached the court to stop the election of the Football Association.
The case was filed before an Ekiti state Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
In the suit, with number MAD/7M/2019, the stakeholders who are football coaches and administrators in the state sought an injunction the board of the Football Association in the state from conducting its election.
The applicants in the suit are, Chairman, Ekiti State Football Coaches Association, Mr Victor Olarewaju, Chairman, Football Association, Ado Ekiti local government, Oloworemo Oluwole, FA chairman, Ikere local government, Adelakun Olusegun, FA chairperson, Emure local government, Princess Olayinka Adefemi, and Adegboyega Afolabi, FA chairman, Ido-Osi local government.
The Ekiti State Football Association Board, Chief A.Y Ariyo(Chairman), Mr B.S Idowu (Secretary), Bayo Olanlege (member), Fatunkasi J.I (member) Ajibewa J.A (member) and Aregbesola O. are the members in the suit.
In their enrolment of order motion ex parte “brought pursuant to section 23 and 24 (E) of the Magistrate Court laws 2014 and order 9 rule 1,6, and 8 of the court civil procedure rules of Ekiti State 2014 and under the inherent jurisdiction of this honourable court.
“An order of this court for an injunction restraining the Respondents from conducting Football Association (FA) Ekiti state chapter Election pending the determination of Motion on Notice and for such order or further orders as this honourable court may deem fit to make in this circumstance.”
The presiding Magistrate of the court, R.A Adegboye, having listened to S.A Aina and O.O Ogunkorede for the applicants’ prayer for injunction restraining the Respondents from conducting the Ekiti FA elections pending the determination for the Motion on Notice, ordered that: “The Motion o Notice is hereby fixed for 24th January, 2019”.
