Angered by what it described as sundry offences and alleged gross misconduct by a few of the lecturers, the administration of the Delta State College (DELSU) has dismissed two of its lecturers within the Division of Economics, and despatched a professor in the identical division on obligatory retirement.

In an announcement signed by the Vice Chancellor of the college, Professor Victor Peretemode, a replica of which was made accessible to DAILY POST in Asaba, mentioned the three lecturers are stagnated for 3 years whereas the professor could be retired from the college system subsequent week.

The names of the affected lecturers have been withheld within the launch, however the Vice Chancellor mentioned the choice to make sure the affected lecturers are handled accordingly, was reached on the 106th assembly of the Governing Council of the college after the Senior Employees Disciplinary Committee (SSDC) which carried out an investigation on acts of misconduct levelled in opposition to the lecturers, submitted its findings and suggestions to the Governing Council.

It was garthered that following the choice of the college administration to put off the affected lecturers, particularly the three affected lecturers stagnated for 3 years, there’s palpable pressure and concern of the unknown within the college neighborhood as alleged efforts by them to get the State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa to intervene, had been unsuccessful.

A employees of the college, who spoke to newsmen on situation of anonymity, mentioned, “the affected lecturers, many of them are in the department of Animal and Environmental Biology, While another senoir lecturer whose name did not appear with others, was warned for negligence of duty and told to strictly abide by the rules and regulations of the university as they relate to the conduct of the examination. All the information was also published in the school bulletin, there is serious tension and lobby to come back at all costs”.

Professor Peretemode disclosed that no fewer than 10 lecturers and non tutorial employees have been sacked in the previous few months for gross misconduct and varied offences, stressing that the college’s administration has zero tolerance for offences dedicated by any employees .
