The Cross River state Police Command have killed 5 armed theft suspects in Calabar who engaged the officers in a gun duel shortly after robbing a filling station at Atu Avenue within the state capital on Sunday.

Hafiz Inuwa, the Commissioner of Police within the state, who briefed newsmen on the incident on the Atakpa Police Station, mentioned the robbers invaded the filling station on Sunday morning.

“A few of these armed robbers are giving us issues in Calabar municipality. These set of robbers have been caught up in a gun battle with the police shortly after they robbed a filling station in Atu space of Calabar South.

That they had a shoot-out with the police and our males have been capable of gun down 5 of them. These have been the identical gang that we have already got their profile. We now have been on the be careful for them as a result of they have been the identical those who snatched two AK47 rifles from our males.

It is a pointer to the truth that the police and different safety businesses won’t relaxation till the state is free from all types if criminalities,” he mentioned.

Inuwa mentioned that individuals who decides to take up arms in opposition to legislation abiding residents within the state would have themselves in charge as a result of the police was out for “fire-for-fire”.

“Election is coming, the Calabar carnival is around the corner; we are not going to spare any criminal in the state. I am calling on parents to be on the watch out on their wards because taking arms against anybody will not be tolerated,” he warned.
