The former Minister was on Thursday appointed to Twitter’s Board of Directors (the “Board”) as a new independent director, effective immediately. Ibrahim Dankwambo, Governor of Gombe state has congratulated Nigeria’s former Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, following her appointment into Twitter’s board.

Omid Kordestani, Executive Chairman of Twitter confirmed the appointment.

Speaking on her appointment, Dankwambo described Okonjo-Iweala as a role model to every young Nigerian.

On his Twitter page, he wrote: “Very big congratulations to you my dear sister and compatriot, @NOIweala on your appointment into the @Twitter Board of Directors.

“You are a worthy role model to every young aspiring Nigerian desiring to make a difference in the world. Keep soaring! You are unstoppable.”

Also, the Senator representing Bayelsa, Ben Bruce on his part applauded the former minister saying, “Dear @NOIweala, Why am I not surprised that @Twitter appointed you to its board? You bring value wherever you go!

“Nigeria was blessed to have you and now you are reaping some of the good things you deserve. More is yet to come. I am ever so proud of you. Congratulations Ngozi!”
