Two men in Ogun State have been arrested for allegedly killing their neighbour and hiding his dead body in a sack. The suspect also stole the neighbours Bajaj motorcycle.
Patrick Udom, 35, from Akwa-Ibom State and James Roland, 25, from Delta State – were arrested following a complaint by the elder brother of the victim one Moses Utuede who reported at Obalende Divisional headquarters that his younger brother, Happy Patrick, left home around 7:00am on May 15, 2018 but was yet to return with his motorcycle.
The Ogun State Police command’s spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said based on the strength of the report, the DPO, SP Jaiye Richard, detailed detectives to embark on full-scale investigation in order to unravel the mystery behind the sudden disappearance of the victim. Oyeyemi said;
“Investigation later revealed that the victim was last seen with Patrick Udom and he was promptly arrested. After a thorough investigation, the said Udom confessed to have killed the victim assisted by one Roland James.
“He stated further that the victim, who lives in the same community of Imodi-Imosan with them, was killed because they wanted to steal his motorcycle which they actually did after killing him,”
“the body of the deceased which was concealed in a sack and thrown in a nearby bush has been recovered. Also recovered from them are the two cutlasses used to kill the deceased, a hammer and a digger.”
Oyeyemi also made it known that the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has ordered that the case be transferred to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence for investigation and prosecution of the suspects.
