Nigeria Youth Chamber of Commerce Endorsed By President Buhari

The Federal Government is set to officially launch the Nigeria Youth Chamber of Commerce (NYCC) to support the promotion of youth entrepreneurship, create jobs, generate wealth and grow the economy.

According to the statement, the endorsement is made in a letter from the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, signed by the Director, Growth and Employment, Mr Sani Labaran, on behalf of the Minister.

The statement stated that following the endorsement, the planning committee for the launch was inaugurated by Sen. Suleiman Hunkuyi, member of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment.

The Nigerian Youth Chamber Of Commerce is the voice and umbrella body for youth entrepreneurs in Nigeria. This is contained in a statement by the Chairman of NYCC, Mr Pius Ayim, made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja on Sunday.

It is an organised private sector platform that provides social capital for youth entrepreneurs.

The chamber was established to promote functional youth-led micro enterprises through advocacy for the creation of an enabling environment to help youth unleash their creative ingenuity and productive potentials.

The ministry, in its letter, promised to help build capacity, mentor and support youths under the auspices of the NYCC.

Hunkuyi said launching the chamber would herald a new paradigm and perspective to the promotion of youth entrepreneurship that would contribute to the diversification of the economy.

He called on stakeholders to support the initiative for the benefit of Nigerian youth entrepreneurs.

According to the statement, the launch is scheduled for Nov. 14, as part of activities to mark the 2016 Global Entrepreneurship Week.

It will feature the public presentation of the chamber’s Micro Enterprise Development Model and  Training of 1,000 youth entrepreneurs.
