A gas pipeline last night exploded and caught fire in Akwa Ibom State in Nsit Ibom near Obotim Nsit.
The real cause of the explosion is not yet known. Fire fighters are really battling to calm the situation. The flame of the burning gas pipeline has turned the sky in many parts of the state red due to its magnitude.
Its not clear if the action is related to the activities of Niger Delta militants blowing up oil pipelines in the region.
