According to the Punch, the collapsed warehouse was an old building used for storing Dangote salt. No fewer that five people were feared killed after a warehouse belonging to the Nigerian Port Authority collapsed in Port Harcourt on Saturday evening.
The newspaper said an employee of the NPA who revealed the tragic incident on Sunday said that five bodies were retrieved from the rubble.
Another unnamed worker in the NPA, Area A, explained that those killed were inside and around the toilet and bathroom of the warehouse. he said many of those inside the warehouse were spared because the wall fell outward.
“It happened yesterday (Saturday) around 5pm and five persons, who were trapped in the rubble, were found dead,” the source said.
“Those that died were around the bathroom and toilet area and the walls that fell affected them. Their bodies were found when the people began to open up blocks and search the rubble,” the source added.
