Governor Willie Obiano was held responsible by the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) for death of its members in onitsha.
A statement by MASSOB’S leader, Uchenna Madu, said Anambra State was not the only state where “members of MASSOB and IPOB demonstrated, protested or jubilated because of Nnamdi Kanu, but we have not recorded any killings, harassment, massive arrest, clampdown, shootings, torture and unguided statements by other governors, except in Anambra.”
Members of MASSOB and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) were celebrating the release of Nnamdi Kanu when the Army allegedly attacked and killed some of them.
It added that when “Obiano visited the Hausa residents in Onitsha following the torching of a Mosque, Obiano sympathised with them without commiserating with the injured and relations of dead non-violent Biafra agitators.”
“He, rather, tactically supported their clampdown of the protesters. This executive order prompted the Army to kill, injure and arrest many of our members in Onitsha, including those killed during the celebration.
