Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has recommended a 50 percent reduction in the salaries and allowances of the President, Governors, legislators, and other political appointees.
According to the Governor this will make those offices less attractive, thus reducing the desperation to get into the offices.

He argued that reducing the take-home pay of political office holders would reduce poverty, crime and the attendant do-or-die scramble for such positions.
“By making the salaries and allowances of political office holders less attractive, only those keen on rendering genuine services to the people would vie for such offices.
