Ekiti State Traders Protest over Exorbitant tax

On Secretariat Road, Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital Igbo shop owners staged protest on the exorbitant taxes by the Ago Fayose administration.

More than a hundred shops were closed down by officials of the Board of Internal Revenue (BIR) in an operation that began at 9am, including shop belonging to Zenith,Diamond bank and NNPC.

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″]The traders marched from their shops to the BIR headquarters opposite Old Governor’s Office and sang songs such as “We no go gree o, we no go gree”, among others.[/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″]Frightened BIR workers shut their doors on the protesters and didn’t open them until the 4pm closing time.[/vc_column][/vc_row]
