Rotimi Amaechi former Rivers State Governor, ministerial screening along with nine other nomiñees slated for today was postponed to tomorrow Thursday, October 15, 2015.
This was due to the inability of the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions to submit its report on the petition against him.
The former governor’s nomination was challenged by three Senators from his state who cited the allegations of corruption levelled against him.
Chairman, Senator Sam Anyanwu explained that the committee could not meet on Tuesday following the late adjournment of plenary.
The committee however decided that the charges couldn’t serve as grounds to prevent Amaechi’s confirmation as minister as the case was still pending in court.
He however said that the committee would meet on Wednesday to finalize the report on Amaechi and submit it on Thursday.
