THERE are serious indications that Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of Kadunna state may have finalized plans to marry Zahra, daughter of President Muhammadu Buhari so as to cement his political bond with the

President and get his nod for the Presidency in 2019 if Buhari fails to re-contest due to age

[pull_quote_center]Nasir El-Rufai, the Kaduna State Governor, who is being seen as very close to the President and one of the President’s most trusted confidante and strategists, is nursing the ambition of becoming President of the country, and may use the present trust and confidence he is enjoying from the President to pursue such ambition.[/pull_quote_center]

According to a Presidency source who spoke to our reporter “Baba”, as he was fondly called by many in the Villa, may not be interested to re-contest in 2019, going by his present body language.

Two things will work for the Kaduna State Governor to get the nod of the President when the time comes.

First, Nasir El-Rufai, it was, who persuaded

Muhammadu Buhari to take a fourth shot at the Presidency even when Buhari had given up and said he will not be contesting for the Presidency again following his failure to win elections in three attempts.

Second, his present marriage to the

President’s daughter will cement their political bond and better prepare El-Rufai ahead.

“The Polity Newspaper”, which first carried this report is a Kaduna-based newspaper.

It is not clear as at press time if this is real as we can not independently verify this information
