Benue plans 2015 international carnival

The Benue State government has arranged through a public private initiative with Gamma Communications to hold the 2015 edition of the annual Benue International Carnival in the state in December.

The carnival, which is patterned after the Calabar Carnival hosted annually by Cross River State, will be launched by the state governor, Samuel Ortom at the Traditional Food Basket Lighting ceremony at Wurukum Roundabout, a symbol of the food basket heritage of the state located in the heart of Makurdi.

Speaking on the anticipated tourism fiesta, Misty Uba, Chief Operating Officer, Gamma Communications said: “The objective of this annual cultural carnival is to firmly establish Benue State as a viable tourism destination in Nigeria and Africa.

In that same spirit, Benue State is poised to give Nigerians both within and outside the rare opportunity to experience the rich cultural heritage.”[/quote_box_center]
