This video were uploaded in YouTube previous week and it got more than 400,000 views, but the tutorial doesn’t actually work.
The clip which lasted for 35 seconds titled “iPhone Unlock WITHOUT Passcode Glitch *New 2016*” was posted on March 3rd 2016, show a way to unlock an iPhone without knowing the user’s passcode.
The video shows an unnamed user gaining access to an iPhone by using Siri to ask the iPhone what time it is. According to the user – tapping the home screen from the App Store takes you back to the home screen and the phone is unlocked.
When the time is displayed, the YouTuber then clicks on the Timer option at the bottom of the screen and uses ‘When Timer Ends’ option to buy more tones from the App Store.
According to verification, the process don’t actually work, which can be confirm from comments dropped by viewers. “If you use the home button to activate Siri whilst having your finger registered, you’ll unlock your phone (even though there is no visual cue that signals this). When you use Siri and unlock your phone, it follows that you can open apps other than just the clock app.,” wrote one commenter.
But what’s not clear is that by hitting the home screen to activate Siri in the first place engages the TouchID fingerprint scanner.
In the case of this video, the user’s fingerprint is added to the phone’s system .
If you try to repeat the process on a locked phone, the TouchID scanner will prevent you from proceeding to the App Store.
