COLLAPSE OF SOUTH AFRICAN GOLD MINES TRAPPED OVER HUNDRED

An underground gold mine in Barberton, Mpumalanga, South Africa trapped over 100 miners today Friday, February 5. This happened as the goldmine caved in.

Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (AMCU), disclosed that about 115 staff are trapped after the main offices at Makonjwaan Gold Mine caved in. An unconfirmed report said that about three might have died. Manzini Zungu says it is possible that the incident was caused by a sinkhole, although Barberton is not known for such geological issues

He adds emergency services should already be on site to rescue those who are trapped.
